Magnificent Minute Mug Cake

Cake in a Mug

Quick, easy and delicious!!!

A magnificent homemade chocolate treat.

Here is a great way to get that chocolate fix, impress anyone and pull off a quick unexpected dessert in a flash..  It seems as we pass this recipe around everyone agrees it is a very customizable hit!!!  You can very easily dress it up with one of your favorite mini candy bars, coconut, peanut butter, chocolate chips, the sky is the limit.

Magnificent Minute Mug Cake

To start:

¼ cup flour

½ teaspoon baking soda

pinch of salt

Combine these in a small bowl and set off to the side.

Mix together:

3 tablespoons butter, melted

¼ cup sugar, granulated

1 egg

½ – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa

3 tablespoons milk

Once everything is well blended add the flour mixture.  Using only a butter knife or similar object gently fold and combine stopping the moment all ingredients are incorporated together.  Warning…do not over mix!!!

Divide the batter into two coffee mugs.

And here is where the magic kicks in to make you look like a superstar!!!

Microwave one cup at a time on high setting for 45 seconds or up to one minute depending on your microwave’s ability.  When the batter rises during the latter half of this very short time you will know that it is done.  Remember to make note of the cooking time for the next one. 🙂

The cake will sink some when you remove it from the microwave.  Fancy it up in a simple way with a dusting with powdered sugar.  Why not try it with a nice vanilla ice cream and perhaps some hot fudge on top?  Wow, that was getting rich wasn’t it?   No worries this ingenious little cake can stand alone as a great dessert by itself in the spur of a moment.

Try preparing this same recipe with bits of chocolate chips added, bits of broken candy bars or toffee pieces, shredded coconut, etc.

Get creative and let us know how you might have tweaked this recipe.  We are looking forward to hearing from you!!!
